15 fountain-pen drawings from the Stuttgart artist’s sketchbook, as true-to-original facsimiles on Smooth Art Paper. The originals stay in the sketchbook.
Stuttgart. Before SUVIN, REANA or DARIN exist, there is a fountain pen and a sketchbook. That is where August Mond’s worlds begin — not as a plan, but in the act of drawing itself. With his new series Unplugged, the artist makes these moments available for the first time: 15 original drawings, as true-to-original facsimiles, sold directly via augustmond.com.
“My pictures don’t start with a finished idea — the idea arrives while I draw,” says August Mond. The sheets are accordingly raw: pen strokes, ink, no corrections. A Medusa, an Icarus, “Datenstromopfer” (Data Stream Victims), “Pferdidas” (Steedidas) — motifs that may later grow into whole worlds, caught here at their very beginning.
The facsimiles come in two formats: 15 × 10 cm at €18 and 21 × 29.7 cm at €25, printed on Smooth Art Paper — a matte stock with a fine grain, close to the feel of a sketchbook page. The edition is open, sheets ship unframed, plus shipping. What is sold is the true-to-original imprint of the moment — the originals stay in the sketchbook.
With Unplugged, August Mond’s range now spans from an €18 drawing to “Vita Bona,” his €85,000 monumental work (415 × 240 cm) — one cosmos, one hand, sold directly by the artist, with no gallery in between.
About August Mond: August Mond is the artist pseudonym of Roland A. Schwarz. Across serial worlds — SUVIN, REANA, DARIN — he combines narrative figures, humour and depth into “social fiction”: art made to carry a room rather than decorate it. His work is released as limited masterpieces, open editions and sketchbook facsimiles (Unplugged), sold directly via augustmond.com. All works are made by hand, without AI.
