The Stuttgart-based artist brings his “social fiction” straight to waiting rooms, law firms and living rooms — from the €100 print to the limited masterpiece, with no gallery in between.
Stuttgart. Where practices, offices and lobbies so often hang interchangeable stock images, August Mond offers something else: narrative worlds with recurring characters, humour and depth. His work is now available directly via augustmond.com — as open editions from €100, and as limited, acrylic-finished masterpieces.
“Stories are the starting point of all my pictures,” says August Mond. His series — SUVIN, REANA, DARIN — build their own character universes: a raven, a unicorn, a clown, a “Jobot.” The viewer isn’t told everything; they complete the story themselves. That is exactly what makes the work compelling for spaces where people arrive, wait or reflect — art made to carry a room rather than merely decorate it.
What’s new is the route to the buyer: instead of going through galleries, August Mond sells directly. The open edition is the affordable entry point — three formats at €100, €175 and €250, printed on Hahnemühle German Etching, unframed, shipping included. For those who grow attached to a piece they see every day, the limited, acrylic-finished masterpieces (from €400) are the next step. All works are made by hand, without artistic AI.
Behind August Mond is Roland A. Schwarz, a trained artist (HDK Berlin) and a long-standing, multi-award-winning creative director. When a company failed, he returned to fine art — August Mond is his second life.
